The vibrant display of rich cultural heritage at the 2025 Oronna festival has been described as a unifying tool for development at the grassroots and capable of earning more support from the government.
The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Oluwasesan Fagbayi said this at the 2025 Oronna festival held in Ilaro, emphasising the event's significance to continue protecting and promoting the region's rich cultural traditions, revealing that the present administration's substantial support for the festival underscored its mportance to local communities development.
He commended the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount ruler of Yewa land, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, whose leadership has been instrumental in maintaining the land's cultural heritage, peace and unity, commending the ongoing collaboration between government institutions and local traditional leadership.
Fagbayi explained that the festival serves as a platform for community unity, emphasising the need for indigenes to continue to support, respect and abide with traditional practices.
Also speakingl, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr. Yusuff Quudus charged the indigenes of Yewa to sustain the unity exhibited at festival and adding that the glitz and splendor displated was a reflection of the actualization of the vision of the state in terms of heritage protection, promotion and projection of tourism sector in the State.
As Yewa land celebrates another year of cultural continuity, the 2025 Oronna Festival stands as a testament to the region's commitment to preserving its unique heritage and traditions.
