ORU, OGUN STATE – The executive arm of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ijebu North Local Government Area has declared its support for the re-election of three key figures, advocating for political continuity across multiple levels of government.
The endorsements were made during a meeting of the local government's Executive Council in Oru on Saturday. After what was described as a thorough assessment of current representation, the council passed resolutions backing second-term bids for both their federal representative and the national president.
The council formally endorsed Hon. Joseph Folorunsho Adegbesan for another term representing the Ijebu North, Ijebu East, and Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. Additionally, they adopted Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun (CON), for the Ogun East Senatorial ticket.
In a move looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, the body also affirmed its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election bid.
The motion for the triple endorsement was moved by the Council’s Treasurer, Abolore Kasali Adesina, and seconded by Ward 6 Chairman, Adekunle Okunbajo.
A statement from the council indicated the decision followed a "critical appraisal" of the political landscape at the constituency, state, and national levels. The members emphasized a perceived need to maintain what they termed "good representation."
"The collective decision reflects our confidence in the track record and dedication of these leaders," a council spokesperson was quoted as saying. "We believe continuity is vital for the consolidation of ongoing projects."
The resolutions were signed by the Ijebu North APC Chairman, Hon. Mosunmola Oladipo, and the Local Government Secretary, Taiwo Adeleye.
