In an interview conducted by Journalists in Sagamu and Aiyepe towns to get information on the post construction experience of residents and motorists, it was discovered that the feeling was ecstatic as the people could not hide their happiness.
Earlier, it was revealed by the Sagamu local government Chairman, Ogbeni Jubril Odulate during the recent commissioning that the road had been abandoned, which had made it almost isolated and inaccessible for road users and residents, a situation that had stalled business activities.
The Chairman, who had expressed appreciation to the Government on behalf of the people, noted that the new reconstruction would aid business activities, improve lives and reduce wasted man-hours, called on the residents to jointly watch against any act that could jeopardise the lifespan of the road.
His counterpart in Odogbolu Local Government, Dr. Babatunde Diya who had also spoken in an interview expressed appreciation to the Governor for the reconstruction of the road, saying that it would improve connectivity and facilitate transportation seamlessly for passengers from neighbouring communities without necessarily going through the Sagamu- Benin Expressway.
He added that the facility would enhance the socio economic of the State as it would attract investors and increase the Internally Generated Revenue, urging residents and motorists to ensure judicious use of the facility and imbibe a strong maintenance culture.
In separate interviews, a farmer, Opeoluwa Ayinde and a trader, Bright Samuel, both residents of Sagamu, appreciated the Government for the reconstruction, revealing that before now, houses in the area were usually flooded during the rainy season because of the deplorable state of the road which had made many people to relocate to other places and that, neglects by motorists had affected sales in the area, but with the reconstruction, the socio economic development of the area would pick up instantly, a situation they said would improve their livelihood.
Other residents that were interviewed in Aiyepe town, that included Taiwo Onasile and Mrs. Mistura Adekoya said that the new road would significantly revive their moribund business and would make accessibility to Sagamu’s market to sell their farm produce easier unlike before.
It would be recalled that, the Governor of Ogun state, Prince Dapo Abiodun had recently commissioned the newly completed Sagamu Aiyepe road as part of the fulfilment of his assurances to enhance the living standards of the citizens.
