Motorists have been advised to be patient and drive with caution along the Sagamu—Ore-Benin Expressway, as the current reconstruction of the road has continued to cause traffic gridlock, thereby triggering major delays on the road.
Vice Chairman, Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State, Hon. Isiaka Salami, gave the advice while speaking with Journalists in his office, saying government intention was to make life meaningful for the people which could be seen in the massive overhaul of the entire length of the road, advising road users to be patient, obey traffic regulations and remain calm as reconstruction works are ongoing.
‘’As we are all aware of the reconstruction of the express road, I want to appeal to all road users to be calm, composed and not be covertly reactive. Though it can be frustrating, with patience, obedience to traffic rules and officers, the traffic jam will be minimal,’’ he said.
He noted that the Sagamu-Ore Benin express road played a crucial role in the national economy as the gateway to Nigeria because of its variant regional connection that linked the south-south and the south east, hence the importance the government placed on its repairs.
Hon. Salami therefore appealed once again for patience on the part of motorists so that man hours wasted on the road could be reduced, while he appreciated the Governor for his unwavering support and intervention at ensuring the Federal government awarded the road for reconstruction, saying the present administration led by Prince Dapo Abiodun would leave no stone unturned with respect to road construction in the State.
Also speaking, Trace Divisional Commander, Sagamu Division, Commander Adegoke Omotayo, revealed the diligent efforts undertaken by Trace officers at ensuring smooth and efficient road management during this period, adding that officers had been committed from beginning of the construction exercise and assured that they would remain consistently committed and be at their duty posts at ensuring that the difficulties experienced by road users were lessened.
