NEWLY APPOINTED PERMANENT SECRETARY TOURS HER AGENCY, EMPHASISES TEAM SPIRIT

The newly appointed Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Ministry of Environment, Dr. Modupe Lawal, has made a maiden familiarisation tour to all the departments and units in the Ministry, as she reaffirmed the State government’s commitment to environmental sustainability and effective service delivery.

Dr. Lawal, who interacted with management and staff during the tour, said the visit was aimed at gaining first-hand knowledge of the Ministry’s operations while fostering cooperation, professionalism and teamwork among workers.

“This familiarisation tour is necessary for me to understand the structure, strengths and challenges of the Ministry so that we can reposition it for optimal service delivery in line with the vision of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration,” she said.

The Permanent Secretary expressed satisfaction with the level of neatness within the Ministry and commended staff for their enthusiasm and commitment to duty, describing the atmosphere as encouraging.

“I am impressed by the level of cleanliness within the premises and the positive attitude displayed by members of staff as this reflects dedication and a sense of responsibility,” Dr. Lawal noted.

She urged staff to sustain the existing team spirit, stressing that unity, cooperation and professionalism were essential to the successful implementation of the ministry’s mandate.

“Teamwork remains critical to achieving our goals. I encourage all staff to continue working together in harmony to move the ministry forward,” she added.

She assured that the Ministry would continue to align its programmes with the policy direction of the State government, emphasising that collective responsibility and stakeholder collaboration were crucial to achieving sustainable environmental management.

Speaking on her observations during the tour, Dr. Lawal noted that while commendable efforts were ongoing across departments, there was room for improvement through innovation, improved infrastructure and better coordination.

She equally urged residents of the State to support government’s efforts by complying with environmental laws, stressing that environmental cleanliness was a shared responsibility.

“A clean environment is not the duty of government alone. I urge all residents, traders and industrial operators to comply with environmental regulations and partner with the Ministry to build a sustainable Ogun State,” Dr. Lawal said.
