Nobody Will Stop Him’ — APC Chieftain Insists on Fubara’s 2027 Re-election

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has declared that Governor Siminalyi Fubara will seek a second term in office in 2027, insisting that nothing will stand in the governor’s way.

Speaking on Wednesday, Emeka Bekee said Fubara is firmly positioned to contest the next governorship election on the platform of the APC.

He made the remarks while responding to questions during a live television interview.

Bekee’s comments come at a time of intense  political tension in Rivers State. The crisis has been largely linked to the ongoing power struggle between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and Governor Fubara.

According to the APC chieftain, the party’s internal processes will play a key role in determining candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.

He explained that the APC has several recognised ways of selecting candidates, including consensus and other internal arrangements.

While noting that no one is officially handed a ticket without a process, Bekee suggested that recent political realities within the party may favour sitting governors who have aligned with the APC.

He hinted that governors who recently joined the party could enjoy strong backing when the time comes.

Bekee stressed that Governor Fubara would still obtain nomination forms and formally indicate interest in the race. However, he maintained that political agreements at the national level could significantly influence the outcome.

He argued that Rivers State needs stability and progress, not prolonged political battles. According to him, continued crisis could slow development and governance in the state.

The APC chieftain added that if the understanding within the party supports second-term ambitions for incumbent governors, then Fubara would not be excluded.

He insisted that such an arrangement would clear the path for the Rivers governor’s re-election bid.

Bekee concluded by stating that once the party settles on its direction, Fubara’s second term ambition would become inevitable. In his words, ‘Nobody Will Stop Him’.
