In recognition of his sterling performance in Public Office and contributions to the development of his Alma mata, the Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, has been honoured with the Old Boys Award by the Alumni Association of Ijebu-Ode Grammar School, Ijebu-Ode (JOGSOBA).
The presentation of the award took place during the 113th Founder's Day and Reunion Celebration of the school, with the theme: 'NON NOBIS DOMINE: 113 Years of Purpose, Pride and Progress’, at the school premises in Ijebu-Ode.
Mr. Onasanya, a member of the 1977/1982 set was one of the countless individuals produced by the school, who had made significant contributions locally, nationally and globally, especially through the values of discipline, dedication and integrity instilled in them.
Presenting the award to the Head of Service, a former Speaker of the Lagos state House of Assembly, a former Senator who represented Lagos East senatorial District, Senator Olorunnibe Mamowora, commended the school for organising this special recognition award.
Mamowora, an old boy and awardee, said they would continue to uphold the legacy and standard the school had set for them,
Responding after receiving the award, Mr Onasanya said he counted it a great honour to be given the award, while he played glowing tributes to the pioneering forebears of the school for their vision, sacrifices and perseverance which bequeathed a legacy of excellence on all of them, added that all the good values instilled in them as learners had continued to inspire them in every field of endeavours they find themselves.
The Head of Services appreciated the Alumni Association for the honour as it was meant to motivate him to strive for greater heights and pledged unalloyed support and commitment to the Association.
"I am grateful to the Alumni Association for this honour, which motivates us to strive for greater heights," Onasanya said.
Speaking earlier, the National President of the Old Boys' Association, Otunba Ayokunle Bolujoko, said the legacy of the founding fathers would continue to shape the lives of the old boys and appreciated all of them for turning out en masse for the celebrations.
He revealed that the reunion offered them the unique opportunity to reconnect with old friends, reminiscence about fond memories and rekindle the spirit of camaraderie that had defined the great school.
"Continue to promote the interests of the school and uphold the noble traditions that have made the Alma mata truly remarkable", Otunba Bolujoko urged.
Speaking once again in a response on behalf of the award recipients, Senator Mamowora expressed appreciation and assured that they would continue to be good ambassadors of the great citadel of learning and contribute meaningfully towards its development.
The award recipients drawn from older and younger sets, included Senator Olorunnimbe Mamowora, Managing Director of Ogun- Osun River Basin Development Authority, Engr. Dr. Adedeji Ashiru, Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Abayomi Arigbabu among others.
