A socio-political group, Assurance Grassroots Support for Yayi and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Sunday intensified mobilisation efforts for the governorship ambition of the Senator representing Ogun West, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adéọlá (Yayi), ahead of the 2027 general election.
The grassroots rally, held in Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, attracted political stakeholders, community leaders, and supporters who reiterated the need for Ogun West to produce the next governor of the state.
Speaking with journalists at the event, a Federal Commissioner with the Public Complaints Commission (PCC), Morakinyo Akinleye, described Senator Adéọlá as a leader dedicated to selfless service and transformative governance, noting that the senatorial district considers him its most viable governorship prospect.
He emphasised that the mobilisation was driven by the long-standing aspiration of Ogun West to occupy the state’s top political office.
“Fifty years after the creation of Ogun State, the absence of a governor from Ogun West remains a concern. With purposeful grassroots mobilisation, we believe the district will achieve this goal in 2027. Senator Adéọlá is ready to lead us to that place of progress,” Akinleye said.
The commissioner also expressed confidence in the political strength of the district, stating that the growing coalition of supporters reflects widespread acceptance of the senator’s leadership capacity.
Convener of the programme, Yinka Alade, explained that the rally served as a strategic platform to engage grassroots stakeholders and consolidate support for Adéọlá’s ambition.
“Ogun West has waited for decades. Senator Adéọlá is a competent leader with wide acceptance across the three senatorial districts. His achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and empowerment initiatives have positively impacted lives across the state,” Alade said.
Also speaking, Engr. Jamiu Ogundele described Adéọlá as an experienced and capable political leader deserving broad support, stressing that his track record in public service positions him as a strong contender for the governorship seat.
Similarly, Mr. Oyede Adeniyi, a legislative aide to the Deputy Senate President, urged residents to rally behind the senator, citing his contributions to governance and development-oriented programmes that have improved livelihoods.
The rally also featured strong expressions of support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, with speakers commending ongoing economic reforms and national development efforts.
Dignitaries present included Yinka Alade, Convener of Assurance Grassroots Support for Yayi/PBAT; Morakinyo Akinleye, Federal Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission; Adeniyi Oyede, Legislative Aide to the Deputy Senate President; and Engr. Jamiu Ogundele, among other stakeholders.
