OGUN AT 50: RESIDENTS APPLAUDS GOV. ABIODUN FOR REMARKABLE ACHIEVEMENTS



Residents of Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area turned out in large numbers to celebrate the developmental strides recorded under the administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun, Executive Governor of Ogun State, as part of activities marking the State’s 50th anniversary.

The well-attended event, described by stakeholders as the Ijebu-Ode scorecard, reflected the strong communal spirit, unity and civic pride of the town.

Speaking at the event, Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Oladapo Okubadejo, described the transformation witnessed across Ogun State as remarkable and impactful stating that the administration’s focus on infrastructure development, youth empowerment, economic growth and social advancement had improved the quality of life of the residents.

According to him, projects such as road construction in strategic parts of the local government, empowerment programmes for youths and small business owners, other infrastructural development had showcased the government’s commitment to purposeful and people-centred governance.

He explained that these initiatives were aimed at enhancing mobility that would stimulate economic activities, create opportunities for local entrepreneurs, adding that the progress recorded across various sectors reflected a clear and consistent vision for sustainable development, assuring residents that the State government remained committed to ensuring the continuity of the giant strides.

In his welcome address, Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government and chief host of the event, Hon. Dare Alebiosu, commended residents for their enthusiastic participation and unwavering support for government programmes, describing the massive turnout as a demonstration of unity, confidence in the leadership direction of the State.

Hon. Alebiosu reaffirmed the local government’s alignment with the developmental agenda of the State administration, stressing that effective collaboration between the State and grassroots leadership had been instrumental in delivering impactful projects within Ijebu-Ode.

Dignitaries at the event included; religious leaders, clergies,  members of the League of Imams, Community Development Associations, youth and women groups, party faithful from Ward one to eleven, traditional rulers, market leaders, artisans, and other stakeholders from across the State.

Speaking in an interview, a clergy and community leader, Bishop. Wasiu Olalekan applauded the resilience and unity of the Ijebu-Ode people and urged residents to continue to support the initiative that had promoted peace, development and social cohesion.

They described the Golden jubilee as both a moment of reflection and an opportunity to reaffirm shared aspirations for growth and prosperity.

The celebration featured cultural displays that highlighted the rich heritage and tradition of the Ijebu people. Dance performances, music presentations and symbolic processions reinforced the community’s history and sense of collective identity.

A raffle draw was also held and gifts were distributed to participants, thus, adding colour to the occasion.
