OGUN AT 50: LG BOSS REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINED DEVELOPMENT




The Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Hon Afolabi Odulate, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustained development, peace and inclusive governance as Ogun State marked its 50th Anniversary.


Odulate, made this known during a colourful ceremony to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the creation of Ogun State at the Akarigbo Palace pavilion, Sagamu.


He described the milestone as a celebration of resilience, unity and steady progress, noting that Sagamu Local Government had continued to play a strategic role in Ogun State’s economic and industrial growth with its position as one of the major industrial hub of the Gateway State, driven by deliberate policies and infrastructural interventions which all aligned with the ‘Building Our Future Together’ agenda of the State Government.


The Chairman highlighted key projects executed by his administration which included; the reconstruction of Cinema Road, Sawmill Road, Sode Road, Awosanya Road and Ajaka Road adding that the reconstruction of the Executive Chairman’s office is ongoing, while Radelu Road had received approval for reconstruction.


He said the relative peace currently enjoyed in Sagamu had been central to the successes recorded in the last few years, stressing that his administration prioritised dialogue, collaboration with traditional institutions and proactive engagement with stakeholders to restore stability and public confidence.


The Council Boss, expressed profound gratitude to the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his support and leadership, noting that the Governor’s development agenda had continued to impact positively at the grassroots level.


In his remarks, Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, commended the present local government administration for sustaining peace and promoting development across Sagamu Local Government.


Akarigbo expressed satisfaction with the level of calm, unity and infrastructural progress witnessed in Sagamu in the last couple of years, noting that the restoration of peace had provided a conducive environment for growth, investment and community development.


He noted that the visible transformation in Sagamu underscored the importance of cooperation between government and traditional institutions, adding that the traditional council would continue to support initiatives aimed at strengthening peace and development.


Royal fathers, former council Chairmen, Commissioners, Members of the Ogun State House of Assembly and other dignitaries who attended the event also acknowledged the improved security, infrastructure renewal and governance stability in the local government.


The Golden jubilee celebration came alive with rich cultural displays, music, colours and a strong sense of pride, just as the event featured an exciting raffle draw where lucky participants smiled home with various gifts.
