The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara has announced his readiness to work with members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for the good of the people.
Fubara made this disclosure while congratulating Ukalikpe Napoleon and Loolo Bulabari Henrietta, the winners of the just-concluded bye-elections held in two constituencies of the state.
Recall that the bye-elections were conducted on Saturday, February 21, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ahoada East and Khana State Constituencies.
Both members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Napoleon clinched the Ahoada East State Constituency II, while his counterpart, Henrietta emerged victorious in the Khana State Constituency II.
Commending their victory and the need to fill the vacant seats in the House, Fubara said the outcome of the polls is a reflection of the people’s confidence in both candidates.
Also describing their victories as well deserved, the governor urged the new House of Assembly lawmakers to work towards solidifying the trust reposed in them by their constituents.
He said, “It is the beauty of democracy. When the people believe in your capacity, they will give you their votes.
“I look forward to working with them and their colleagues in the Rivers State House of Assembly for the progress of our state,” Fubara said.
He also commended the people of the Ahoada East and Khana constituencies for their peaceful conduct before, during, and after the election.
He said the level of order and decency exhibited in the election process is a positive demonstration of their democratic maturity.
