LG BOSS ADVOCATES FOR RELIGIOUS HARMONY



Chairman, Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Jubril Odulate has called on religious faithfuls to use their respective fasting periods to pray for unity and peace of the council, state and the nation at large.

Ogbeni Odulate represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Isiaka Salami stated this at the 14th Annual Ramadan Lecture, themed: ‘Contributing to the Cause of Allah (Building a Mosque), Reward Here and Hereafter,’ organised by the Council’s Muslim Community at the council secretariat, saying that religious harmony was crucial to promoting good governance and peaceful coexistence amongst residents.

 “There is a purpose for everything in life, for Muslim’s fasting and Christian’s Lent periods to commence on the same day, I believe this connotes unity and peace and this should be embraced to foster peaceful coexistence and unity of purpose amongst the people,” he said.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment towards ensuring proper welfare and spiritual well-being of staff by ensuring the fulfillment of promise made to complete the worship centers within the secretariat during his tenure, calling on everyone to contribute to the cause of Allah which has reward here and hereafter.

In his lecture, the Chief Imam, Lafarge Community and Saatanu Waaizdeen of Remoland, Samaiatus Sheikh Al- Imam, Abdul Waheed Shittu, said that there is reward for whatever anyone does, urging them to contribute their quota towards the growth and development of Islam.

Earlier in her address, the Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), Mrs. Temitope Ejide, thanked God for witnessing another Ramadan lecture, appreciating the members of staff for their dedication, commitment and support to the success of the event. She emphasized that Ramadan symbolises love, compassion, empathy and peace, urging Muslims to remain prayerful and promote peace and unity amongst the people.

Highlight of the event was presentation of award of excellence to some Muslim scholars including patron, Sagamu Local Government Muslim Community.
