Again, Ogun House of Reps Hopeful, Rotimi George-Taylor Empowers Constituents With Cash Grants, Other Support Items

A House of Representatives hopeful for Abeokuta South Federal Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Ambassador (Dr.) Rotimi George-Taylor, on Tuesday empowered more than 100 women and youths with cash grants, and other support items.

The empowerment programme held at the APC Local Government Secretariat in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital had in attendance, political leaders like  Hon. Hakeem Odejinmi, Hon. Allen Taylor, Baba Ayorinde, Alhaji Willy Kay, the 15 ward chairmen, Abeokuta South APC Secretary Comrade Saheed Idowu, the party’s woman leader, ward coordinators of Door-to-Door Team Yayi, party members and other stakeholders.

The program was organised in collaboration with the Door-to-Door Team Yayi Abeokuta South, a grassroots mobilisation group supporting the gubernatorial aspiration of Senator Olamilekan Adeola.

Speaking at the event, George-Taylor said the initiative is an expression of gratitude and a continuation of his family’s long-standing tradition of service.

“From the family I come from, empowerment is what we have done from generation to generation.

He said " My father taught me that you are not truly a man until you make a positive impact on another person’s life, and that a good name is better than gold”

“The good things people say about my father inspire me to give back to Abeokuta and Ogun State,” he said.

The aspirant pledged transparent and inclusive representation if elected, assuring constituents of programmes focused on healthcare delivery, data processing, emergency services and youth empowerment.

“I will not stain my name. I am committed to inclusive representation,” he stated. “If elected, I will be the best representative Abeokuta South Federal Constituency has produced.

“I am a strong advocate for youths at home and in the diaspora, and as an IT expert, I will bring professionals to equip our youths with relevant digital skills.”

Earlier, the Coordinator of Door-to-Door Team Yayi Abeokuta South, Comrade Aliu Olalekan, commended George-Taylor for his consistent support of the group and the residents of the local government.

He said the group’s strategy is anchored on early grassroots engagement to secure victory for the APC in 2027.

“Our objective is to begin from the grassroots, convince the electorate ahead of election day and ensure victory for our candidates,” Olalekan said.

In separate goodwill messages, party leaders led by Alhaji Lemboye Tajudeen urged George-Taylor to uphold the legacy of his father through people-oriented governance if elected, and to prioritise the welfare of party members and constituents.

They lamented what they described as years of poor representation in the constituency, noting that previous office-holders failed to serve the broader public interest.

Speaking on behalf of beneficiaries, Ishola Olanrewaju expressed appreciation for the gesture, praying for the aspirant’s success.

“This support gives us hope. We believe his aspiration will be fulfilled, and we are optimistic about 2027,” he said.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of sound systems to all 15 wards in Abeokuta South to enhance communication and coordination during ward meetings, with each ward chairman receiving the equipment.
