Video: Elemide’s Camp Accused of Using Governor Abiodun’s Name to Obtain Fraudulent Endorsement — Odeda Apex Leader

A fresh controversy is brewing within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State, as a prominent Apex Leader, Hon. Israel Ogundipe, has alleged that allies of Hon. Daisi Elemide deployed a deceptive scheme, invoking the name of Governor Dapo Abiodun, to secure his signature on an endorsement document under false pretences.

Narrating the incident, Hon. Ogundipe disclosed that the episode began with a telephone call he received around 5:00 a.m. from Hon. Daisi Elemide himself. According to Ogundipe, Elemide informed him that an 87-year-old Elder Statesman, Pastor Michael Fajimi, would be visiting him shortly and that he was required to sign a document emanating from the Ogun State Government, led by Prince Dapo Abiodun, concerning a new appointment.

“Hon. Daisi Elemide called me around 5 a.m. and said Pastor Michael Fajimi was coming to see me. He told me I needed to sign a document from the state government — an appointment letter from Governor Dapo Abiodun,” Ogundipe stated.

True to the call, Pastor Michael Fajimi arrived at Ogundipe’s residence at about 6:00 a.m. and, according to Ogundipe, corroborated the story, explaining that the governor desired to give him another appointment. Acting in good faith, Ogundipe appended his signature to the papers presented to him.

However, the Apex Leader said his trust was betrayed when he later discovered, to his shock, that the document he had signed was not an official appointment letter but an endorsement of Hon. Daisi Elemide’s political ambition.

“I know we hold meetings at Pastor Fajimi’s house; Hon. Saka Musulumi had even sent an SMS earlier. But I was stunned when I realised it was an endorsement paper for Hon. Elemide. I immediately rejected it and never signed the documents again,” Ogundipe explained, suggesting that the entire arrangement was a calculated false pretence to harvest his endorsement.

The development has triggered sharp reactions within the party, with many condemning the alleged use of Governor Abiodun’s respected name for political manipulation. Pastor Michael Fajimi, the 87-year-old elder at the centre of the allegation, is now accused of collecting an endorsement via false pretences, an act that has drawn the ire of party faithful who consider it a desecration of the governor’s office.

Efforts to reach Hon. Daisi Elemide for comment proved abortive at the time of filing this report. The Ogun State APC leadership is yet to issue an official statement on the matter, but sources say the incident could lead to disciplinary proceedings if the allegations are substantiated.
