RESIDENTS CELEBRATE NEW DAWN AS ABIODUN COMMISSIONS TAM-BALOGUN, LUBA/STADIUM ROADS

Residents of Ijebu-Ode and it's environs  came out in large numbers to witness the commissioning of the reconstructed Tam Balogun, Luba/Stadium Road by Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, describing the projects as transformative interventions that have restored hope, enhanced mobility, stimulated economic activities, and improved the overall quality of life in the ever rapidly town.

The commissioning ceremony,  attracted government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, market women, transport operators, artisans and residents who gathered to celebrate what many described as a new phase of infrastructural development in the area.

For many residents, the occasion represented more than just  the commissioning of roads, as it marked the fulfilment of a long-standing aspiration and the end of years of hardship caused by the poor condition of the road network.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Hon. Dare Alebiosu, described the projects as another significant milestone in the infrastructural transformation of Ogun State. He noted that the roads were not merely transportation corridors, but critical economic arteries that connected communities, thus,  facilitating commerce, enhance mobility and would  also promote socio-economic growth.

Earlier, In his welcome address, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, described the completion of the projects as a testament to Governor Dapo Abiodun’s commitment to providing durable and high-quality infrastructure across the State.

According to him, the roads were executed in line with approved engineering standards and equipped with modern drainage systems and road furniture to ensure safety, durability and long-term serviceability.

Reacting to the new feat of achievement by the State government, a

commercial motorcyclist, Mr. Tajudeen Sanni, expressed appreciation to the  government, stating that the reconstruction had brought immense relief after years of frustration.

“Transporting passengers through this route used to be a nightmare, especially during the rainy season. Flooding and bad sections of the road discouraged *many people from using it. Today, movement is smoother, safer, and faster,” he said.

Similarly, a commercial driver operating within the metropolis, Mr. Adeniji Ayinde, noted that vehicle maintenance costs had reduced significantly since the completion of the project. He commended the government  .

Also, a trader, Mrs. Ayike Adeaga, observed that beyond improving transportation, the roads have enhanced the aesthetics and image of Ijebu-Ode, making the town more attractive to visitors, investors, and businesses.

Market traders along the corridor also shared similar views. Mrs. Funke Adebanjo, who has operated a shop along the Stadium Road axis for more than two decades, said the reconstruction had already impacted her business positively by improving accessibility and increasing customer traffic.

The roads had  served as strategic links, connecting residential neighbourhoods, commercial centres, educational institutions, worship centres, sporting facilities and other critical public infrastructure.

Their reconstruction therefore aligned with the Ogun State Government’s broader developmental agenda aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens through sustainable infrastructure development, just  as It further underscored the administration’s resolve to bridge infrastructure gaps, improve connectivity and create an enabling environment for economic growth and community development across Ogun State.
