Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government in Ogun State have been called upon to rev up their revenue drives by blocking leakages in all areas to shore up the revenue base of the State and justify the confidence reposed in them by the government.
The call was made by the Head of Service, Mr. Olanrewaju Saka when the Management Teams of MDAs as well as professional bodies in the State paid courtesy visits to his Office to felicitate him on his appointment as the 21st Head of Service of Ogun State.
According to him, all efforts must be geared towards ensuring that revenues are appropriately generated into government coffers, and not private accounts, through proper monitoring mechanics put in place by these revenue generating agencies, in order to justify this Administration's huge investments in the day to day running of government endeavours.
He urged them to imbibe the culture of professionalism, discipline, hard work, integrity and deploy the use of information technology in the discharge of their services to the public, while human face and empathy must be embraced, where necessary, in order to keep giving the populace a sense of belonging in the present Administration's ISEYA agenda.
He appreciated them for the solidarity and show of love expressed to him by their visits and promised to look into their various challenges for effective service delivery.
"Go back and improve on your Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) drive, block all loopholes that revenue is passing through and deploy mechanisms for monitoring to ensure that all generated revenues go into government coffers", the Head of Service charged.
The MDAs led by Permanent Secretaries, Executive Secretary and Chairmen of Associations during their separate visits showered encomiums on the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for the appointment of Mr. Saka as the Head of Service and added that the governor has demonstrated that he has great interest in a working and efficient Civil/Public Service through that choice.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transportation, Mrs. Aderonke Tokunbo-Peters, her counterpart from the Bureau of State Pensions, Mrs. Arinola Adetayo, the Executive Secretary, Primary Healthcare Development Board, Dr. Elijah Ogunsola, the Director, Urban Development, Tpl. Abiola Ayodele from the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development as well as the Chairmen of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, Mrs. Oladunni Adetona and the Nigeria Medical Association, Dr. Luqman Ogunjimi, pledged unalloyed support and solidarity to the Head of Service as well as renewed commitment and dedication to duties.
They seized the opportunity to highlight some of their achievements and tabled their challenges so that solutions can be proffered for optimal performance.
