FOUNTLINE STEM Quiz Winners Receive Scholarships as SUBEB Chairman Honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award

Winners of the maiden edition of the Fountline STEM Quiz Competition, organised by the Fountline Kids Foundation in collaboration with the 10th Legislative Council of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, have been awarded one-year scholarships to support their education.

The Founder of Fountline Kids Foundation, Ambassador Thompson Paul, disclosed that the scholarships were awarded to winners in both the Primary and Secondary School categories as part of the foundation’s commitment to promoting quality education and academic excellence.

The event, themed “Building a Secured Nation Through Quality Education,” also featured the presentation of a Lifetime Achievement Award to the Chairman of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Evangelist Olalekan Ifede, alongside awards presented to other distinguished individuals in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the education sector.

Receiving the award, Ifede underscored the importance of organising quiz competitions for pupils in public primary schools, noting that such initiatives stimulate learners’ interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) while promoting academic excellence.

Represented by the Director of Academic and School Services, Mrs. Kehinde Anifowose, the SUBEB Chairman said the initiative demonstrated a strong commitment to equipping children with the knowledge, skills, creativity and confidence required to thrive in a 21st-century global economy.

He described STEM education as a vital driver of innovation and national development.

“STEM education prepares our children to become scientists, engineers and innovators capable of contributing meaningfully to the development of Ogun State and Nigeria,” he said.

Ifede commended the organisers for the initiative, expressing optimism that the competition would inspire a lifelong passion for science, technology, engineering and mathematics among pupils in public primary schools across Ijebu-Ode and Ogun State.

In his remarks, the Majority Leader of the 10th Legislative Council, Hon. Olayiwola Salami, called for the enactment of laws that would further improve the quality of education in public primary and secondary schools, while commending the Ogun State Government for digitising the education sector.

Similarly, the Education Secretary of Ijebu-Ode Local Government Education Authority, Mr. Felix Ayankoya, applauded the organisers for complementing government’s efforts in providing educational facilities and promoting learning within the local government area.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Fountline Kids Foundation, Mr. Adeolu Taiwo, said hard work, dedication, innovation and discipline were values that should continually be encouraged and rewarded. He praised all participating pupils and students for their courage, curiosity and determination to excel academically.

In his response, the Founder of Fountline Kids Foundation, Ambassador Thompson Paul, appreciated the council, partners and other dignitaries for their support and presence, assuring that the foundation would continue to impact lives through educational programmes.

The event featured the presentation of cash prizes, trophies and one-year scholarships to winners in both the Primary and Secondary School categories, as well as awards to individuals recognised for their exceptional contributions to education.

In the Primary School category, Oloruntuga Daniel of Love Foundation School emerged overall winner, while Festus Goodnews, also of Love Foundation School, came second. Balogun Sodiq Adedayo of Christ Church School secured the third position.
