The Jadiara Royal House, a member of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House in Ijebu-Ode, has rejected a publication by Ikokore Reporters which purportedly named Bode Onanuga, Bimbo Onabanjo and Folu Aderibigbe as the three candidates for consultation for the vacant Awujale stool.

In a press statement dated August 10, 2026, and signed by Otunba Prince Akinola Odedina DBA, FCA, Oloriebi, Jadiara Royal House, the royal house described the publication as misleading and baseless, insisting that Ikokore Reporters has no traditional, statutory or customary authority to determine candidates for the Awujale stool.

The royal house also disputed the reported claim of a three-candidate consensus, stating categorically that such a consensus does not exist.

According to the statement, only the appropriate ruling house, kingmakers and relevant institutions have the authority to determine qualified candidates in accordance with the customs and laws governing the Awujale succession process.

The Jadiara Royal House stressed that due process must be followed, maintaining that all qualified aspirants should be assessed on the basis of custom and law rather than media campaigns.

It further rejected what it described as conspiracy claims aimed at weakening the Awujale institution, saying such allegations should be supported by evidence rather than speculation.

The royal house also called for fairness in media reporting, particularly regarding other aspirants. It cited the mention of Ademorin Kuye in what it described as a dismissive and denigrating manner, urging Ikokore Reporters to maintain a level playing field and avoid biased reporting.

It appealed to journalists, bloggers and members of the public to rely on official communications and refrain from spreading unverified reports capable of causing division within Ijebuland.

The royal house also urged the Ogun State Government to perform its role transparently and without pressure, stressing that the government should be allowed to discharge its responsibilities in accordance with the law.

Reaffirming its commitment to peace and the dignity of the Awujale institution, the Jadiara Royal House said its ultimate objective was the lawful emergence of a new Awujale who enjoys the confidence of the people of Ijebuland.

The statement comes amid growing public interest in the succession process for the vacant Awujale stool and the positions being expressed by various stakeholders within the Ijebu traditional institution.
