The Executive Chairman of Odeda Local Government, Hon. Wasilat Folasade Adeyemo, PhD, is set to commission a fresh set of people-oriented projects across the ten wards of the council, in continuation of her administration’s efforts to improve infrastructure and enhance the welfare of residents.

The projects, which span Odeda, Itesi, Olodo, Alagbagba, Orile-Ilugun, Osiele, Obantoko, Alabata, Obete and Opeji, cover key areas including education, rural roads, water supply, electricity, markets and local government infrastructure.

Among the projects are the installation of 200 solar-powered street lights across the ten wards, construction of box culverts at Apakila and Mogan Village, construction of 20 open stalls at Alabata Market, and rehabilitation of key offices and facilities within the Local Government Secretariat.

The administration is also undertaking several education-focused projects, including the construction of a block of two classrooms with office and store at African Church Primary School, Abule Odo (Annex), Atokun Village.

Renovation and provision of furniture are also being carried out at St. John Anglican Primary School, Ogboye Village; St. Michael African Nursery and Primary School, Apete, Fajol; O.L.G Nursery and Primary School, Odelaitan; NUD Primary School, Onigbogbo; and Zulikha Abiola Memorial Islamic Children School, Osiele.

Similarly, chairs and desks will be provided to Baptist Day Primary School Annex, Iyana Abibu, in Obete Ward 9, while 1,000 gallons of chalkboard renovator will be supplied to schools across the Local Government.

In the area of rural development, the administration has scheduled the grading of deplorable roads across the wards for ten days. It is also undertaking the repair and servicing of the Local Government’s CAT grader to strengthen its capacity for road maintenance.

Water supply is another major component of the projects, with motorised boreholes and solar-powered systems being provided at Bode Village, Baase Village and Ilugun.

The council chairman said the projects were strategically distributed across the ten wards to ensure that residents in different communities benefit directly from government interventions.

She explained that the solar street lights would improve visibility and contribute to security, while the education projects would provide a more conducive learning environment for pupils and teachers.

According to her, the borehole projects would improve access to potable water, while the rehabilitation and grading of roads would ease transportation and movement of people and goods within the Local Government Area.

Hon. Adeyemo also expressed appreciation to the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, whom she described as the “people’s Governor,” for his continued support and commitment to grassroots development.

She noted that the support of the state government has contributed significantly to the ability of Local Governments to implement projects that directly impact residents.

The chairman assured residents of Odeda Local Government that her administration would continue to prioritise projects that respond to the needs of the people, while promoting accountability, transparency and responsible management of public resources.

The projects are expected to further strengthen the administration’s development agenda and deliver tangible benefits to communities across Odeda Local Government.
