2027: AMG Inaugurates Ogun Executives, Declares Support For Tinubu, Yayi, Other APC Candidates

The Asiwaju Mobilization Group (AMG), a political support group backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027 and Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI, for Ogun State governor, has inaugurated its Ogun State chapter.

The inauguration ceremony, held on Thursday, October 8, 2026, in Abeokuta, the state capital, also featured the inauguration of the group's state and local government executive committees.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Convener and National Coordinator of AMG, Ambassador Oladeyinde D. Adekunle, popularly known as Diamond David, said the organisation was established to mobilise grassroots support for President Tinubu, the Senator, representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, Senator Shuaib Salisu, Hon. Afolabi Afuape, representing Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, other House of Representatives and House Assembly candidates in all the twenty local governments of the State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He said the group was determined to extend its mobilisation efforts to every local government area, ward and polling unit across Ogun State to ensure widespread grassroots participation in support of its preferred candidates.

According to him, AMG has a presence across the 36 states of the federation and is committed to establishing functional structures at the state, local government, ward and polling-unit levels.

“We want to mobilise our people to go out there—every house, every corner, every ward, every polling unit, every nook and cranny of Ogun State—to ensure that we mobilise people who will vote for Mr President,” Adekunle said.

He attributed the group's support for Tinubu's second-term ambition to what he described as the administration's achievements in economic reforms, infrastructure, education and other critical sectors.

Adekunle cited the removal of fuel subsidy, ongoing road construction projects and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), among other government initiatives, as reasons for the group's decision to support the President's re-election bid.

He maintained that although the government's economic reforms had initially brought hardship to Nigerians, the administration's policies were beginning to yield positive results.

In a separate interview with journalists, the Ogun State Coordinator of AMG, Hon. Gbenga Adekanmbi, disclosed that the group was targeting 10 million supporters for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Adekanmbi said the mobilisation campaign would cover the three senatorial districts of Ogun State, adding that the group would work towards securing support for all APC candidates contesting various elective positions.

He explained that the organisation's activities would extend beyond the presidential and governorship elections to include senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly contests.

“We will work for all our candidates, all APC candidates—from the President to the Governor, the Senators, the House of Representatives and the House of Assembly. By the special grace of God, we will win all,” he said.

On the group's endorsement of Senator Adeola for the 2027 Ogun governorship election, Adekanmbi and other AMG leaders cited what they described as the senator's legislative record and interventions across the state.

They argued that Adeola's activities had extended beyond Ogun West, the senatorial district he represents, to communities across Ogun Central and Ogun East.

One of the speakers said the senator's interventions demonstrated his interest in the development of the entire state and reflected his preparedness for the governorship position.

“YAYI has his own blueprint. He has been working because he knows what he wants to do in Ogun State. That is why he has been utilising his position in the Senate for the benefit of the state,” the speaker said.

He added that AMG's support for Adeola formed part of its broader commitment to mobilising support for all APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The inauguration of the Ogun State chapter marks another step in the group's efforts to expand its organisational structure and strengthen grassroots mobilisation ahead of the elections.

The AMG leadership expressed confidence in the group's ability to extend its reach across the state's 20 local government areas through the planned inauguration of its ward and polling-unit Executives
