MoU ON CONSTRUCTION OF OLOKOLA DEEP SEA PORT UNDERWAY

 


The Ogun State Government says it will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the organised private sector on the construction of the seaport located in Olokola in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of the state


The State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun dropped this hint at the Mitros Residences, Abeokuta, during a Breakfast Meeting with Chief Executive Officers(CEOs) of the organised private sector.


Governor Abiodun pointed out that the move is another giant step to ensure that businesses continue to thrive in the state, noting that his administration is working towards putting an end to the multiplicity of taxes.


"I want to share with you the fact that whilst we are talking about our road, rail and air transport, we will be signing very soon a Memorandum of Understanding with the private sector players for the construction of our seaport in Olokola.


He urged the organised private sector to patronise government whenever they need land for business, give back to their various host communities, take advantage of the state government's ‘’Adopt a school or primary health care centre’’ project, and imbibe the culture of technology transfer, to further assist the country to move forward technologically.


Abiodun also disclosed that his administration would be distributing 5,000 certificates of occupancy this Friday, adding that the state is now in an advantaged position to continue to issue certificates of occupancy to subscribers in the state with the acquiring of equipment that can sign a thousand certificates of Occupancy daily.


Earlier in his address, Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Adebola Sofela assured that the state government would continue to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, and partner with industries with a view of propelling the common interest of both the state government and industries to greater heights.


In his remarks, the Ogun State Chairman of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Mr. George Onafowokan acknowledged the position of the state as the best place for industries to flourish, calling on the state government to continue to work towards ensuring that the enablers for businesses growth are readily available in the state.


Speaking on behalf of the Agbara Cluster, the Director of African Industry Group, Chief Sohan Baghla, who disclosed that they have been able to provide over 10,000 jobs for the people of the state, added that a greater percentage of the group companies' investment and industries in Steel Production and Processing, Aluminium Production and Processing, Glass Plant, Hydro and Agric Chemicals, Steel Rolling Mills are situated in Agbara area of the State.
