2025 HAJJ:OGUN PILGRIMS VISIT HISTORICAL SITES IN MEDINA

Pilgrims from Ogun State on Wednesday 14th May, 2025 commenced visits to some religious sites, known as Ziyarah, sites associated with Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), his family members, companions and other prominent figures in Islam.

The visit, in Medina, was led by the Director of Administration of the Board, Alhaji Shehu Sofola.

Earlier, while narrating the stories behind the sites, The Head of Operations/Religion, Imam Inakoju Buhari, admonished pilgrims to always adhere to the laid down rules and follow the directives of their leaders.

He emphasised how deviant behavior of some of the soldiers that followed the Prophet almost caused a major setback for the struggle of Islam during the battle of Uhud.

Prominent among the places visited included Masjid Quba, the mosque where the Prophet accompanied by Abu Bakr stayed and prayed in Medina after emigrating from Mecca.

Others included, the mount of Uhud, where the Battle of Uhud was fought between a force of the Quraysh from Mecca and a force from the small Muslim community of Medina led by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

Pilgrims expressed delight that they were able to see those historic sites and privileged to pray at Masjid Quba.

Responding, one of the pilgrims, Ismail Oloungbebe said "I want to sincerely thank God for the privilege of coming to this place to see Masjid Quba physically and to perform two rakats, non-obligatory prayers."

Others said seeing the place where the martyrs of Uhud were buried and the story behind the place had brought fresh memories of what they were taught about the battle of Uhud and the significance of the battle in the stability of Islam.

They commended the Management of the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board for proper coordination and prayed for successful Hajj exercise.
