The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday reacted to a trending video of naira abuse at the 54th birthday celebration party of Oweizidei Ekpemupolo.
Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, was captured in a viral video stepping on naira notes while his guests sprayed cash at his feet.
While the video has caused outrage among Nigerians, many others have argued that, like with the case of Rasaq Okoya’s kids, who were caught on video abusing the naira, the EFCC would also look the other way on Tompolo’s matter.
However, in reaction to the viral video and outrage from Nigerians, the EFCC has said that nobody is above the law.
As an anti-graft agency that has been consistent with its campaign against abusing and mutilating the naira, especially at parties, as synonymous with Nigerians, the EFCC said Tompolo has questions to answer.
Nobody is above the law. Tompolo will have questions to answer!” the commission wrote on X with a picture of Tompolo at his party, where he abused the naira.
