Ogun State House of Assembly through its Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, chaired by Hon. Jemili Akingbade, continued its oversight visit to Local Government Councils to assess the level of performance and compliance to due process in project implementation at the grassroot level with an admonition to the Council Chairmen to follow the relevant laws and edicts guiding their operations.

Hon. Akingbade gave the directive during the Committee oversight visit to Abeokuta South Local Government Council, stressing the need for transparency and compliance with proper procedures in project execution.

 He called on the Local Government Council to provide detailed documentation of all ongoing and completed projects, including cost implications, memos for approvals, bills of quantity, vouchers, and records of projects approved at Finance and General Purpose Committee (FG&PC) meetings.

He noted that the visit was aimed at evaluating the council’s performance in the implementing of the 2024 budget and to ensure its alignment with the developmental priorities of the current administration in the State.

Hon. Akingbade, together with other members of the Committee, including Honourables Adegoke Adeyanju , Samsideen Lawal, Folawewo Salami, Yusuf Sherrif and Wasiu Ayodele, inspected various projects implemented by the Local Government Council.

Responding, the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Mr. Balogun appreciated the House Committee for the visit, describing it as a step toward ensuring accountability and grassroots development.
