The Chairman, Yewa North Local Government, Dr. Olusola Akinbode, has appreciated the Dangote Cement Company for fulfilling its Corporate Social Responsibilities and contributing towards re-energising over 21 communities that have been thrown into darkness for 3 years due to electrical challenges confronting the area.
Dr. Akinbode, stated this during the symbolic handover of materials for the restoration of power to the area at the Dangote Police Post, Ibese, enjoining host Communities to continue to support and cooperate with the Company towards achieving its set objectives in the area.
Represented by the vice Chairman, Hon. Olumide Ilori, Dr. Akinbode, acknowledged that the Council had long been planning towards restoring electricity to the affected communities, saying that the Dangote’s support would go a long way at promoting the efforts of his administration towards bringing dividends of democracy to the people at the grassroots.
Special Adviser to the Chairman on Special Duties and Inter Governmental Affairs, Hon. Rasaq Ogungbe and Hon. Councillor representing Imasai Ward, lauded the efforts, saying that the initiative would further strengthen bonds between the company and the local populace, calling for more collaboration that would foster cordial relationship for the socio- economic wellbeing of the people.
In their separate remarks, Olu of Imasai, Oba Lukumon Kuoye, Alademeso of Igan Alade, Oba Gabriel Olalowo and Onijoun of Ijoun, Oba Gabriel Ogunji, thanked the management of the cement factory for their intervention, saying it would fast track the reconnection of the affected communities to the national grid.
Earlier, the Plant's Director, Roy Uttam, described Governor Abiodun, as a proactive leader who knows how to deploy timely intervention.
On his part, the Plant's Head of Social Performance, Mr. Ademola Ojolowo, welcomed dignitaries and presented the listed items to be handed over by the Ibese Plant to the representatives of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) for immediate commencement of installation, the items included 9,750 Meters of Aluminium Conductor Steel-reinforced cable (ACSR), 18 High Tension (HT) Poles
Other materials were 75 pieces of Pot Insulator, 40 9ft U Channel, 12 33KV Silicon, 40 33KV Tie straps and among others.
Other Traditional Rulers present were, Aboro of Iboro, Oba Gabriel Salako, Onijale-Ketu, Oba Bisiriru Oyero, Aboro of Ibese land, Oba Rotimi Mulero, Olowode of Owode, Oba Olusola Fabuyi, Onimoto of Imoto, Oba Gabriel Ogunyomi and representatives of Baale from the areas.
Other dignitaries were a Member of the House of Assembly representing Isokan State Constituency, Hon Adeyanju Awoso, Legislative Council and Executive Members from Yewa North and many others
