PPP DEVELOPMENT IN OGUN; A GAME CHANGER-DG

 


In its efforts to continue to drive Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) in Ogun State and ensure development across various sectors of the State’s economy, the Director General, (PPP) Barr. Dapo Oduwole, has said that the present administration will continue to explore collaborations with the private sector in order to efficiently deliver infrastructure projects and diverse government services 


  Oduwole, who made this known while speaking with Journalists in Abeokuta on the ‘PPP Success story in Ogun State’ described (PPPs) as a collaborative arrangement between government entities and private sector organisations with the sole aim of jointly delivering infrastructure projects which facilitate public services to the State’s residents.

.

The DG noted that the Prince Dapo Abiodun led adminstration had created an enabling ambience that would allow Public Private Partnerships to thrive, noting that the last 6 years of growth was a result of deliberate involvement with PPP.


He added that the proximity of the state with Lagos provided a unique advantage which presents Ogun as an investment destination of choice for infrastructural development and other socio- economic benefits.


According to him, "Ogun is well-positioned for PPP projects and initiatives due to its strategic location, enabling commercial & business environment as well as enviable relationships with the organised private sector.

The State is exhibiting successes in the implementation of infrastructure projects across the spectrum including Agriculture, and Agro Processing, Roads and Transportation, Healthcare, Housing and  Tourism.


 

Barr. Oduwole added that the government being an adherent of the rule of law enacted the Public Private Partnerships enabling legislation with attendant fiscal policies to support investments in the State.


The DG applauded investors for their interest in the State, saying that the present administration's infrastructure projects including the Gateway International Agro Cargo  Airport, with recent approval for  Commercial flight operations has strategically put the state on the global map.


He revealed that the Airport is located  within a Free Trade Zone which includes, a Special Agro Processing Zone (SAPZ), a Garment  Textile hub,  an Aerotropolis comprising mixed use real estate,, logistics and industrial zones , as well as hospitality facilities
