Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu has assured that public schools in the State will resume for the 2025/2026 academic session with improved infrastructural facilities and better educational policy to ensure a successful year.
Prof. Arigbabu gave the assurance during a 2-days enrollment campaign in Egba and Yewa regions of the State, saying the present administration places high premium on education, hence, the commitment to ensure the sector stands out among others.
He hinted that there had been massive rehabilitation of classrooms, laboratories and libraries with modern equipment during the holidays, noting that furniture were also supplied and many other developmental initiatives were also put in place to ensure a conducive teaching and learning session.
The Commissioner added that parents that have children living with disability should not hesitate to register them in any of the five Special Need Schools across the State, as adequate provision has been made to ensure they also benefit from quality education.
"The enrollment drive has been yielding desirable results, we now have more children enrolled in our public schools, enjoying the free education initiative, no child should be seen roaming around while the session is on"- Arigbabu stated
Speaking, Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Evang. Olalekan Ifede and Permanent Secretary in the Education Ministry, Mrs. Oluwatosin Oloko said that the present Government is running free education policy, therefore no fee or levy, should be charged by any school.
On their parts, the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewa Land, Oba Dr. Kehinde Olugbenle represented by Baale Idi-isin, Chief Babatunde Yinusa and Olu of Siun, Oba Lawrence Adeyinka said the greatest legacy and wealth which could be given to a child is education, hence, the need for every parents to take advantage of the Dapo Abiodun-led administration's free education policy to initiate a brighter future for their children.
In their remarks, State Chairman, Parents Teachers Association, Rev. Olusegun Folorunso, Babaloja of Lafenwa market, Alhaji Musa Adeyinka, Iyaloja of Yewa South, Chief Mrs. Bolanle Idowu gave kudos to the Prince Dapo Abiodun's government on its transformative interventions in schools and the entire education sector, pledging their continued support towards ensuring all children are educated.
