The ancient town of Idomowo, Ilese-Ijebu came alive on Saturday as Oluwo Ifagbenga Taiwo celebrated the annual Odun-Ifa Festival in Grand Style, a cultural and spiritual event that holds deep significance in Yoruba tradition.
This year’s celebration, tagged “Aduramigba Odun 2025,” was held at Idomowo, Ilese-Ijebu in Ogun State, featuring a week-long series of activities and concluding with prayers for the nation and members of the temple.
The festival, marked by vibrant displays of traditional music, chants, rituals, and communal offerings, drew a large gathering from within and outside the community while Guests were treated to solid Fuji music by Hunter Fuji on Wednesday, while Alhaji Sefiu Adekunle Alao entertained the guests on Saturday.
Dressed in full regalia, Oluwo Ifagbenga Taiwo performed key rites (Iwure Odun Special) associated with the revered Ifa tradition, emphasizing the importance of preserving indigenous culture and spirituality.
Speaking during the ceremony, Oluwo Ifagbenga highlighted the timeless wisdom of Ifa and its role in guiding society toward peace, unity, and prosperity.
He noted that the festival is not only a religious observance but also a reminder of shared identity and ancestral heritage.
As part of the celebration, Oluwo Ifagbenga offered special prayers for Nigeria, calling for stability, economic progress, and the protection of citizens across all regions of the country.
He urged leaders at all levels to govern with wisdom and integrity, stressing that national development thrives where justice and harmony prevail.
The Oluwo Iledi Alaro, Chief Ifatayo Odusote expressed joy at the successful festival, describing it as one of the most colorful and well-organized in recent years.
Also speaking, Oluwo Asomale, Chief Sunday Sosanya commended Oluwo Ifagbenga for his commitment to sustaining Yoruba cultural values and fostering unity among the people.
Alhaji Sefiu Adekunle Alao serenade the atmosphere with his indigenous music performance.
Personalities at the festival includes Chief Ifatayo Odusote (Oluwo Iledi Alaro) ; Chief Moshood Adebowale (Alase Odomola Epe); chief Sunday Sosanya (Oluwo Asomale) ; Otunba Kamorudeen Lamina (Sir K Oluwo), among others guests.
The event concluded with blessings for the community, traditional performances, and communal feasting, reaffirming the Odun Ifa Festival as a cherished tradition that continues to strengthen cultural pride and collective hope for a better nation.
