In view of the recent incidents of burglary, theft looming insecurity witnessed within the Local government area, the Council had rolled out new security rules and measures for all residents to adhere to with immediate effect.
The Chairman, Sagamu Local Government, Hon. Jubril Odulate, represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Isiaka Salami, stated this in a briefing with newsmen at the Council Secretariat, after a meeting with security agents operating within the communities.
Hon. Odulate, explained that it had been decided that all motorcycles and tricycles were to operate between 6am and 10pm daily, saying that joint security task force would now be on 24hrs patrol.
He hinted that during the meeting, all night events were prohibited in the communities that made up the LGA, adding that anyone planning to hold night event or religious activities, must obtain permission from the Area Divisional Police.
The LG Boss added that the use of knockouts and fireworks during the coming festive period is strictly prohibited, urging Local community leaders to work closely with security personnel.
He advised residents to report any suspicious movement or activities to security agents, warning that violators and anyone spreading false information on social media would be apprehended and face the wrath of the law.
In a related development, Sagamu Youth Association (SYA) and Sagamu Peace Agenda Forum (SPAF) had debunked rumours flying on social media of cult clashes in the community, saying it was an attempt to disrupt the relative peace and progress enjoyed in the community, describing it as untrue and capable of damaging the collective efforts aimed at sustaining harmony in the local government area.
Speaking in an interview, Chairman, Sagamu Youth Association, Com. Isiaka Lawal, said that both groups remained committed to peace building and would never indulge in any act of criminality, saying, the rumor was misleading, malicious and a threat to the peace enjoyed in their communities.
Also speaking, the President, Sagamu Peace Agenda Forum, (SPAF), Prince Labi Allison described the rumor as reckless and act of irresponsibility, thanking the security agents for their swift response.
He reiterated the association’s support to law enforcement agents’ efforts and remained fully committed to promoting responsible youths, encouraging residents to disregard the rumor and continue their daily activities without fear.
