Buhari’s Cousin Daura Joins ADC, Declares Katsina Governorship Ambition

Former Director-General Of The Department Of State Services (DSS), Lawal Daura, Has Entered The Katsina State Governorship Race On The Platform Of The African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Daura, Who Is A Cousin To Former President Muhammadu Buhari, Made His Intention Known At A Youth Sensitisation And Mobilisation Programme Held In Katsina, The State Capital.

Speaking At The Event, Daura Said He Decided To Openly Declare His Political Platform To Avoid Speculation Surrounding His Ambition. He Told Party Members That His Decision To Run Was Driven By The Need For Purposeful Leadership And A Stronger Political Alternative In The State.

He Urged ADC Members To Stay United And Disciplined, Stressing That Internal Cohesion Was Key To Building A Credible Political Force.

According To Him, Mutual Respect Among Party Members And Loyalty To Party Leadership Would Help The ADC Regain Relevance And Expand Its Influence Across Katsina State.

Daura Expressed Confidence That The Party Could Grow Rapidly If Members Remained Committed To Its Ideals. He Called On Youths To Take Ownership Of The Party’s Future And Actively Participate In Grassroots Mobilisation.

Also Speaking At The Gathering, ADC Chieftain Dr Mustapha Inuwa Charged Party Members To Reject Fear And Greed, Which He Described As Major Obstacles To Political Progress. He Said Unity Was The Foundation For Achieving The Party’s Objectives At Both State And National Levels.

Inuwa Criticised The Ruling Party, Accusing It Of Implementing Policies That Have Worsened The Economic Condition Of Farmers. He Said Encouraging Food Imports While Agricultural Inputs Remain Expensive Has Weakened Local Production And Reduced Farmers’ Earnings.

He Described The Government As Detached From The Realities Faced By Ordinary Citizens, Especially Those In Rural Communities. To Explain The Severity Of The Situation, Inuwa Said The Sale Of Five Tiyas Of Maize Could Barely Buy A Bottle Of Palm Oil.

Moreover, The ADC Leader Added That A Farmer Would Now Need To Sell About 50 Bags Of Maize To Make N1 Million, A Figure That Shows How Much Purchasing Power Has Dropped.

Inuwa Further Revealed That 71 Members Of The All Progressives Congress (APC) Had Recently Defected To The ADC. He Also Claimed That The Entire Labour Party Structure In The Area Was Preparing To Join The ADC, A Move He Said Would Significantly Boost The Party Ahead Of Future Elections.

Nevertheless, The Event Ended With Renewed Calls For Sustained Engagement With Youths And Intensified Grassroots Mobilisation As The ADC Continues To Position Itself As A Major Political Force In Katsina State.
