A prominent son of Ijebuland, Olawunmi Samuel Omo'ba Anikinaiya, has publicly commended the kingmakers of the Awujale of Ijebuland for what he described as their principled stand against alleged attempts to influence the selection of the next Awujale.

Anikinaiya in his open letter released to the Newsmen on Wednesday praised the kingmakers for their courage amid reports of disagreement with the Governor. 

According to the letter, the kingmakers are being applauded for resisting any move that could compromise the integrity of the revered Awujale throne, a traditional institution held in high esteem by the Ijebu people.

“The Ijebu community values your contributions and expects you to uphold the tradition of the Awujale stool,” the letter stated, urging the kingmakers to remain guided by integrity, cultural values, and established customs rather than personal interests or preference for any predetermined candidate.

Anikinaiya further emphasized the importance of strict adherence to the Awujale of Ijebuland Chieftaincy Declaration, noting that the credibility of the traditional institution depends on transparency and respect for due process.
