A sum of N15.5 billion has been proposed as the budget of the Ijebu Ode Local Government for the 2026 fiscal year, aimed at maintaining fiscal stability and ensuring the delivery of democratic dividends to residents.
The Local Government Chairman, Hon. Dare Alebiosu, presented the budget proposal, tagged “Budget of Sustainable Growth and Inclusive Development,” before the Legislative Council at Itoro, Ijebu-Ode.
He explained that the proposal is designed to drive key developmental objectives of the council.
According to him, priority areas in the budget include infrastructural development, education and youth empowerment, healthcare and social welfare, agriculture and economic growth, as well as environmental sustainability.
Hon. Alebiosu disclosed that the proposed budget represents a 23.75 percent increase over the 2025 budget adding that it would be funded primarily through Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), leveraging innovative and transparent mechanisms.
The council boss noted that his administration remains committed to laying a solid foundation for the local government, especially at this critical stage, with a focus on improving the standard of living of the people.
He highlighted some achievements recorded since the inception of his administration to include the reconstruction of Oke-Aje Health Centre, renovation of Itamapako, Apebi and Sabo health centres, donation of medical equipment to health facilities, installation of solar-powered boreholes at the abattoir, provision of a 300KVA transformer at Molipa, renovation of Moslem Primary School in Sabo, upgrade of the Chairman’s office with a solar inverter system, as well as drainage clearing and debris evacuation at Joke Taiwo Street.
In his acceptance speech, the Leader of the House, Hon. Clement Adenaike, commended the chairman’s developmental strides and assured that the Legislative Council would give the budget accelerated consideration for speedy passage in the interest of the people.
Hon. Adenaike also assured the executive arm of continued cordial relations, with a view to sustaining and expanding developmental projects within the local government.
