The effective involvement of traditional institution on security has been commended.
Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP. Bode Ojajun, gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to Oloko of Ijebu-Imusin, HRM, Oba Stephen Onafowokan, Ojafadego II.
CP. Ojajuni, who was accompanied by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP. Omolola Odutola, senior officers of the Command and other tactical heads, said the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the traditional institution.
He stated that the traditional institution played a crucial role in advancing peace, security and community policing across the State.
The Commissioner, lauded the monarch for providing purposeful leadership and for sustaining peace in the community, stressing that effective policing thrives on collaboration between security agencies, traditional rulers and the public.
“The Nigeria Police Force cannot succeed in isolation. We need the support of our traditional rulers and the people to win the fight against crime,” CP Ojajuni stated.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents to provide timely and credible information to security agencies.
In his response, Oba. Oloko, described the visit as a historic milestone, noting that it was the first official courtesy visit by a serving Commissioner of Police to the Oloko’s Palace, since his ascension to the throne.
He expressed appreciation for the honour and pledged the continued support of the traditional institution in promoting peace, security and community development, while urging residents to remain law-abiding, vigilant and cooperative with security agencies.
A major highlight of the visit was the presentation of a Plaque of Honour to Oba. Oloko by CP Ojajuni in recognition of the monarch’s exemplary leadership, commitment to peace and sustained support for security agencies in Ijebu-Imusin and its environs.
