…..Reafirms Ogun SUBEB’s Commitment to Quality Basic Education

The Executive Chairman of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Evang. Joshua Olalekan Ifede, has welcomed learners, teachers, parents and other education stakeholders back to school ahead of the commencement of the 2026/2027 academic session on Monday, September 14, 2026.

In his message to mark the new academic session, Evang. Ifede called on learners across the state to return to their classrooms with renewed determination, discipline and enthusiasm, assuring them that the Ogun State Government remains committed to creating an education system where every child has the opportunity to learn, grow and fulfil his or her potential.

The SUBEB Chairman equally charged teachers to return to duty with a renewed sense of purpose and an unwavering commitment to excellence, stressing that teachers remain central to the success of every educational reform and intervention.

According to him, the new academic session presents another opportunity for the state to consolidate gains recorded in the basic education sector and pursue higher standards in teaching, learning and child development.

“As our schools reopen on September 14, we welcome every learner and teacher with renewed hope and determination. Education remains the foundation upon which the future of Ogun State is built, and we are determined to ensure that our children receive the quality basic education they deserve.”

Evang. Ifede urged teachers to uphold professionalism, punctuality, discipline and dedication, while encouraging them to embrace innovative approaches to teaching and remain responsive to the evolving needs of learners.

He also appealed to parents and guardians to make the education of their children a priority by ensuring regular school attendance, providing the necessary support for learning at home and maintaining constructive relationships with teachers and school authorities.

SUBEB Boss, reiterated the Board’s commitment to working with relevant stakeholders to strengthen basic education across the state through sustained attention to teacher development, school infrastructure, learning resources, quality assurance and improved learning outcomes.

He emphasised that government alone cannot transform the education sector, noting that the active participation of parents, teachers, traditional institutions, communities and other stakeholders is essential to building a resilient and globally competitive education system.

While congratulating learners who are advancing to new classes, Ifede urged them to take their studies seriously, respect their teachers and colleagues and shun truancy, bullying, examination malpractice and other acts capable of jeopardising their future.

“Every child in Ogun State is a valuable investment in our collective future. Our responsibility is not merely to keep children in school, but to ensure that they receive meaningful learning that equips them with the knowledge, character and skills to compete anywhere in the world," he said.

Evang. Ifede assured the people of Ogun State that SUBEB would continue to collaborate with the state government and all relevant stakeholders to provide an enabling environment for effective teaching and learning in public basic schools.

He therefore wished all learners, teachers, parents and education stakeholders a successful, productive and rewarding 2026/2027 academic session, expressing confidence that the collective commitment of all stakeholders would further advance Ogun State’s position as a pacesetter in education.
