The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ijebu-Ode Branch, has officially commenced its 2025 Bar Week celebrations with a lineup of engaging and high profile activities.
At a press briefing held on Friday at the Bamofin Ade Adedeji (SAN) Bar Centre in Ijebu-Ode, the Branch Chairman, Chief (Prof.) Adetokunbo Fassy Yusuf, expressed his anticipation for the arrival of numerous distinguished guests throughout the week-long celebration.
In his address, Chief Yusuf emphasized that the Bar Week is a long-standing tradition within the legal profession, and this year’s event promises to be particularly memorable. He noted that various dignitaries from the legal community, the judiciary, and public service are expected to attend in large numbers.
The 2025 edition of the celebration is scheduled to take place from Friday, July 4th to Friday, July 11th. It will begin with a Jumat service and conclude with a grand Bar Dinner and Awards Night. Thursday, July 10th, has been set aside for lectures, panel sessions, and discussions under the theme "Law and Governance." The Awards Night aims to recognize individuals who have played key roles in the branch’s growth and impact.
Among the high-profile attendees expected during the week are the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, the Chief Judge of Ogun State, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Ogun State, and the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mazi Afam Osigwe. The NBA President is expected to lead a high-powered delegation from the national secretariat.
Additionally, the Dinner Speech will be delivered by Hon. Justice Taiwo Taiwo (Rtd), a former Federal High Court judge and respected Bar activist.
Chief Yusuf appealed to journalists present at the briefing for widespread media coverage of the week-long celebration, stressing the importance of giving the NBA Ijebu-Ode Branch the publicity it deserves, given its longstanding contributions to the local community, the state, and the nation at large.
“Justice, equity, and fairness sustain society, including our democracy. We uphold the Rule of Law as the cornerstone of democratic governance. Where infractions occur, the legal profession must respond with resolve,” he stated.
The Chairman also took a moment to commend Chief Ade Adedeji, SAN patron of the branch and the Bamofin of Ijebu for donating the ultra-modern Bar Centre. He described the gesture as a historic milestone in the annals of the Ijebu-Ode Branch.
