Lagos Council Chair Sponsors Free Summer Coaching, Distributes Books To Students



The Chairman, Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State, Princess Surah Animashaun, has distributed books and other writing materials to students in her council area at the ongoing free summer lessons she organised for them within her council area.


The Chairperson who made the distribution during the kick-off of the summer lesson on Monday said the programme would run simultaneously across four strategic learning centres; which includes St. Theresa Primary School, St. Michael Primary School, Community Primary School, Erepoto, and Zumuratu Islamia Primary School, all with Epe local government area of the state.


Princess Animashaun explained that the free summer lessons for students across all the wards of the council were initiated to encourage youths to take education as an important tool for development.


She noted that education remains one undefeated tool to liberate the mind of the upcoming generation and to set them on a path that they would be fit to take on the challenges of life as well devise solution to life issues ranging from finance, technology, health, governance and other facets of life.


While describing education as the key to the future, the Chairperson urged the students to take education seriously to their own advantage and national development.


She said, “This programme is designed to keep young minds actively engaged during the holiday period, reinforce their academic foundation, boost their confidence, and prepare them for excellence in the forthcoming academic session.


“So, we encourage parents and guardians to take full advantage of this golden opportunity by ensuring their wards attend the centre nearest to them. Together, let us continue to lay the groundwork for an enlightened, capable, and responsible generation.”


The Chairperson, however, called for more government investment in education, just as she appealed to corporate and private organisations to also join hands with the government to move the sector forward.


“I believe education is the most important tool you can receive, that can bring you most success in society today. Education lessens the challenges you would face in life.


“The more knowledge you gain, the more opportunities will open up to allow individuals to achieve better possibilities in career and personal growth.” She said.


Princess Animashaun who used the occasion to appreciate the managements of the schools used as centres, the tutors and other inspection committees, also lauded the large number of students in the various centres as well as their commitment to growth of their prowess in education.


The students later expressed their sincere gratitude to the people loving Chairman for the benignity they have been enjoying from her since she assumed office four years ago.
