ABEOKUTA – The Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, Comrade Bunmi Adigun, has congratulated the Kurunmi of Ijàyè-Egbáland, Aare (Prof.) Láí Lábodé, on the occasion of his first anniversary, describing his reign as one marked by purposeful leadership, unity, and remarkable community development.
In a congratulatory message released on Saturday, Adigun, who identified himself as a proud son of Ìjàyè with ancestral roots in the Oladosu Compound on his paternal side and the Anigbio Compound on his maternal side, commended Aare Labode for what he described as a transformative one year in office.
According to him, the Kurunmi of Ijaye-Egbaland has redefined traditional leadership through visionary governance, fostering peace, promoting unity, and driving development within the ancient town.
He noted that within one year in office , Prof. Lábodé has restored hope among the people, enhanced the visibility of Ìjàyè, and rekindled pride among indigenes both at home and in the diaspora.
Adigun further stated that his leadership has elevated the profile of Ìjàyè-Egbáland, positioning the community as a place of excellence and promise.
“As someone whose paternal and maternal heritage is firmly rooted in Ìjàyè, I have watched with immense pride as your administration continues to inspire confidence and attract meaningful development,” he said.
The NUJ secretary also praised his accessibility, wisdom, and commitment to preserving the town’s cultural heritage while embracing modern development, noting that these qualities have earned him respect across Egbaland and beyond.
He added that journalists appreciate leaders who promote truth, dialogue, inclusiveness, and community engagement, stressing that the Kurunmi’s reign has reflected these values by fostering peace and strengthening the sense of belonging among the people of Ìjàyè.
Adigun prayed for continued divine guidance, sound health, long life, and wisdom, expressing confidence that his reign would continue to bring greater peace, sustainable development, and lasting prosperity to Ìjàyè-Egbáland.
