Ogun State Bureau of Public Service Reforms has organised a day service improvement intervention programme for management staff of Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) to enhance growth mindset, strengthen leadership and promote positive change within the healthcare institution.
The Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Mr. Jola Oyeneye, stated this at a Capacity- Building session organised for the purpose of service improvement among the management staff of OOUTH, Sagamu.
In his remarks, Mr. Oyeneye, said patients should be treated in a friendly manner and with absolute dedication as well as commitment to service, promising that the intervention would be of high impact if handled with professionalism.
While delivering the first lecture on Growth Mindset and Change Management, the Permanent Secretary advised participants to adapt to changes in the workplace and not view it as stress or threat, but as opportunity that could elevate them, saying that ‘’success comes from mindset rather than intelligence’’.
In her opening remarks, the Chief Medical Director, OOUTH, Dr. Olubunmi Fatungase, said learning should be a continuous process as it would enable recipients to become asset as well as change champions in their various professions, advising that the opportunity created by the programme should be used to identify areas of growth in the various units.
While outlining the Organisational Structure and Governance of OOUTH, a retired Permanent Secretary in the State, Alhaji Adekunle Adegbite, reiterated that the vision and mission of the hospital was to deliver a client friendly tertiary healthcare to patients, while its structure must be firm. He noted the concepts of organisational goal to include clarity, accountability and efficiency, among others.
Speaking on Artficial Intelligence (AI) and Automation in healthcare, an AI facilitator, Engineer, Sean Badiru, stated that AI tools such as NOTEBOOK LM, PERPLEXITY, CLAUDE AI could enhance their work and the more data were being exposed to AI, the more it adapts to the terrain.
In his vote of thanks, Dr Adekunle Alabi, said their mindset and attitude to work had received a leap as would be seen in their service delivery. He appreciated the organisers and promising to spread the knowledge down to different cadres in the health sector.
